FAQs
"Do you accept insurance?"
Dr. Andrew is committed to providing you with the best personalized care possible and accepting insurances unfortunately does not allow Dr. Andrew to spend the sufficient amount of time that a patient deserves, therefore he is out-of-network with all insurance companies. However as a courtesy, Dr. Andrew can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider for any reimbursement. Dr. Andrew encourages you to contact your insurance provider for more information.
"What is the cancellation policy?"
Our time with our patients is valuable. A less than 24-hour notice to reschedule or cancel will result in a 50% charge of the practitioner’s appointment fee. A No-Show will result in a 100% charge of the appointment of the practitioner’s appointment fee.
"What is a superbill?"
A superbill is an itemized form used by healthcare providers for reflecting rendered services. This detailed receipt includes the services rendered, diagnosis codes, fees, and the amount paid during your visit. Superbills can be submitted to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement, if your policy allows.
"What is chiropractic?"
Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, as well as the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic services are used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs and headaches. "What is the 'cracking' sound that is heard during a chiropractic adjustment?"
Synovial fluid in your joints contains oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide gases. When a joint in adjusted, the joint capsule is stretched and the joint volume is increased by as much as 15-20%. This creates a partial vacuum and the gas rapidly releases due to the pressure change, creating the "popping" or "cracking" sound. The gas takes about 20 minutes to return to the synovial fluid. There are no studies that suggest “cracking” your knuckles or joints will cause arthritis or harm.
"Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?"
The actual adjustment itself, while it is happening, may have a patient feel a sudden, startling, compressive and uncomfortable feeling. But a chiropractic adjustment usually does not cause pain.
"Will I be sore after treatment?"
It is definitely possible that you may feel soreness after the treatment regardless of the stage of healing. The soreness can last from 1-3 days and it is completely normal. During an acute injury, soreness may be due to inflammation. During a chronic injury, soreness may be due to the treatment releasing trapped chemicals and creating new inflammation. This chemical flow of "old out, new in" is essential for tissue healing.
"How can chiropractors help with so many conditions?"
Great question! Patients are often confused why we can help with so many seemingly unrelated conditions. All these conditions are either directly or indirectly related to joint motion. Whether it’s a specific soft tissue joint problem or a neurological or vascular system issue, improving joint motion can help with many conditions. (See list of conditions managed)
"Once I go, do I have to start going forever?"
No. Come in as long as you want to see and feel the benefits of chiropractic care.
"How many appointments will it take?"
Each person is different and so is each patient's injury. During your assessment, we will take into consideration the severity of your injury, how long you have had your injury, your age, your overall health and ability to recover, and your compliance to care and corrective exercise.
